Bird watchers can enjoy Loch Fleet, and may even see an osprey during the breeding season. The RSPB reserve at Forsinard makes an ideal day out. Dolphin watching in the Moray Firth is increasingly popular. Have a change from driving and take the train from Tain north to Thurso/Wick where you can view Orkney, or west from Dingwall across to Kyle of Lochalsh and Skye. Spend a day on Orkney, catching the ferry from John o'Groats. Dunrobin Castle with its fascinating falconry display; and Inverewe Gardens are each within a day's run of Dornoch. |
